Celyn Resort Kundasang
Another resort in Kundasang with fantastic views of Mount Kinabalu.
Celyn Resort is a new 3-star resort located on top of a hill in Kampung Samuruh near Kundasang. There are only 32 rooms (though a few more are being built) so you can be assured of plenty of privacy. The rooms are divided into 2 categories – one facing Mount Kinabalu, and the other facing the valley on the opposite side. All rooms have balconies for those who want to spend the day sipping tea while looking at the gorgeous scenery. As the resort is located at 6000 feet above sea level, it is even colder than at Kundasang itself. The reception and restaurant staff are very friendly. The resort has its own organic farm, so fresh vegetables are served during meals.
Getting there though could be a problem as the road up the hill is unpaved and very steep at certain spots. Likewise, there is not much to do except relax at the resort since it is not within walking distance of the Kundasang vegetable market and getting down again is troublesome.
Getting there: Celyn Resort is located about 2 hours from Kota Kinabalu. Drive past Kundasang and Pine Resort. There is a signboard that shows the uphill road to the resort. If you are coming from Kundasang, the turning is on the right.

I stayed in this resort for 2 nights. Going up hill is really a big challenge for the small Viva I rented in KK. However,it’s a good experience.
Is it th road that bad? I am going there next weekend.
The road is not that bad, but the slope is very steep. Nevertheless, I think I have seen Kancils up there. You can always call the resort and they’ll send a van to pick you up from the bottom of the slope.
How far is it from kinabalu park? I’m planning to get a place to stay before the climb.
About 10 minutes drive to the foot of the hill at Celyn and another 10 to 15 minutes up the hill.

Hi Christina, you can take a taxi from the airport. I think it costs about RM250 to RM350. I’m not sure. There is a taxi counter at the airport and the prices should be fixed. There are also a few travel agents at the airport.
hi how about by bus? is there a bus going there?
There is no direct bus from the airport. But you can take a mini bus to Ranau from Kota Kinabalu bus terminal (the one near to the cinemas and Padang Merdeka). The bus will pass by Celyn Resort. You can asked to be dropped there. But you will still need to ask the resort to pick you up from the road. It is too far to walk up to the resort.
